SUMMARY:Contemporary Issues in the Context of International Women’s Day
DESCRIPTION:ERIBIA| Séminaire\nLieu : Université de Caen / MRSH\, salle sh 028\nDébut : 07/03/2019 – 15:00\nFin : 07/03/2019 – 17:00\nResponsable scientifique : Bertrand CARDIN\n·\n\nSéminaire ERIBIA 2018-2019\nMémoires et oublis / Memory and Oblivion\n·\nAmy WELLS (Université Caen Normandie) et Emilia SLAVOVA (University of Sofia\, Bulgaria) \nSince 1909\, March 8th has been recognized as a day of action to obtain equality among the sexes\, particularly in the domains of work and equal pay. Since 1975\, the United Nations has used the day for a worldwide call to action regarding equality for women. It is within this framework that we use this particular occasion to make the general public and the university community away of women’s issues in France\, Europe\, and around the globe. While of course it is important to continue the fight for equality year-round\, this date marks the occasion to reflect on the state of women’s rights. More precisely\, in keeping with ERIBIA’s research theme of memory and the transmission of Anglo-Saxon cultural heritage\, this seminar will also be the occasion to remember some of the important female figures that have contributed to progressing the fight for equality. \n15:00     Emilia Slavova\, University of Sofia\, Bulgaria\, Visiting ERASMUS + Teacher\nTranslating Gender\, Transgressing Reason\, and Judith Butler in Bulgarian Public Discourse \n16:00     Amy Wells\, Université de Caen Normandie\nCraftivism and Menstrual Equality: Fiona Legg’s “What Lies Beneath” (2018) \nModération : Armelle Parey \nVoir l’affiche du séminaire \n\n\n\n[1] http://www.un.org/fr/events/womensday/history.shtml
