SUMMARY:The Irish Religious Diaspora From the 17th To The 21st Century
\n· \n\n\n\nUnder the Penal Laws\, Irish Catholic religious went into exile on the European continent. Catholic Emancipation prompted the Irish Missionary Movement which developed Catholic presence across the British Empire. Those waves of circulation across continents and centuries form the Irish religious diaspora. \nThis conference will for the rst time bring together global experts who will shed light on the countries of Irish Catholic Diasporic presence\, from the Irish Colleges that blossomed across Europe in the 17th century to 20th-century Australia\, South America and South Africa to Australia. The purpose of this conference is to interrogate Irish Catholic presence far from its homebase and to appreciate the extent to which the reality of its pastoral and spiritual life differs from the reality «back home» of institutional scandals. \n\n\n\nOrganisateurs \nAlexandra Mclennan-Slaby\, Université de Caen Normandie\nCatherine Maignant\, Université de Lille\nEamon Maher\, Tallaght University\, Irlande \nREGISTRATION \nVoir l’affiche du colloque
