4th Biennial Conference of the Société d’Etudes Modernistes (SEM)

Are Modernist texts informed by common structures, as Caroline Levine suggested in Forms (2015)? Modernist and avant-garde structures have included links between utopia and dystopia, issues of gender and genre, contrasts between precocious and later modernisms as well as structuralism and post-structuralism. The beginning of the anthropocene era suggests that the very idea of modernist structures would also take into account the cost of the mechanization of human activity.
